AARP Eye Center
Painting lessons that celebrate the people of Mexico. “Culinary Tuesday” events that teach how to cook with the vibrant flavors from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Peru and other Latin American countries. And “Folk Tale Wednesday” happenings where artists bring inspiring stories to life. These and more make up an array of free and virtual events that AARP Texas will host in celebration of 2020’s Hispanic Heritage Month, beginning Sept. 15.
The educational, fun, and exciting events serve to recognize the rich culture and heritage, as well as the valuable contributions, of the Hispanic and Latino communities across the nation and beyond. And in a state like Texas – where almost 40 percent of the population is of Hispanic origin – these commemorations mean a great deal.
“We’re a state full of Hispanic culture and traditions,” said Zulema Solis who co-leads AARP’s outreach work in North Texas. “We’re excited for our volunteers to share these experiences virtually as we showcase the beauty and diversity of these cultures.”
The events are free and open to the public. Mark this page and return here. We will update this page with information about Hispanic Heritage Month events that AARP Texas is hosting throughout the state.
