Advocacy Director Danny Harris: Support SB 133 to Help Utah Workers

Danny Harris Feb 2012 edt
We need your help to keep SB133, Small Employer Retirement Program, moving toward becoming law. This bill will help Utah workers have access to retirement savings vehicles at work. The Senate voted to approve the program but it is now headed to the House. The bill is facing new opposition from groups who benefit by keeping this current market confusing and high-cost for small businesses owners.

Follow this link and take 2 minutes to send a message to your State Representative and ask them to support this critical program. A draft message has already been prepared for you. Make sure your voice is heard by sending a message now. And, as always, once you have sent your message make sure you encourage your family, friends and neighbors to do the same.

Having access to a savings vehicle at work is by far the best way for workers to save for retirement.  Currently, more than half of Utah’s private-sector workers don’t have this option.  SB133 would help reduce that problem by having the state manage the review, selection and administration of private-market plans making it easy for both the employer and employee to take advantage of a competitive IRA savings plan offered in the workplace. Remember to take action now!

Sincerely,

Danny Harris
