Fraud cost veterans, service members, and their families $477 million in 2023, according to the latest Federal Trade Commission (FTC) data, and this only includes fraud that was reported. With over 85% of veterans having encountered service-related scams in the last 12 months, now is a great time to review some of the most prevalent scams targeting current and former service members.

UPDATE:Rocky Mountain Power (RMP) is now seeking a lower rate increase for users in Utah after the company received feedback from it's customers. On August 28, 2024, RMP submitted a new filing with the Public Service Commission of Utah, dropping the proposed residential rate increase from 30% to 18%.

Criminals love to impersonate big businesses and the bigger the better. One of the largest targets of impostor scams last year was Amazon. According to the Federal Trade Commission, 44,000 reports about scammers using Amazon's name were filed last year, with $19 million reported lost.
