Join us by phone or on Facebook on Thursday, January 15 at 10:00 am for a conversation about mature workers and how they can use local resources to learn new skills, re-enter the workforce, or find jobs consistent with their interests and abilities. We’ll discuss career tips, job-search tools, and professional resources that every experienced worker can use to sharpen their skills or get hired. AARP knows that people are living and working longer, and experienced workers bring expertise, maturity, and perspective. Experienced workers should have a level playing field in their ability to compete for, obtain, and retain jobs, so we have invited Associates for Training and Development, or A4TD, to join us on our call.

Women's History Month is underway, and we're excited to celebrate the ground-breaking contributions of amazing women to communities nationwide. Originating as Women's History Week in 1981, March was officially dedicated to honoring women's achievements in 1987. And AARP joins in the nation in celebrating women for their leadership, mentoring, and dedication to their communities in ways that have changed the course of history.
Become a neighborhood leader as part of Vermont's 2023 Walking College
The AARP Vermont State Office is pleased to welcome a new member to their team, Charlie Gliserman, who will serve in the position of Associate State Director for Advocacy and Outreach. As part of AARP Vermont, Gliserman will work on advocacy and outreach initiatives designed to enhance awareness and community relationships, while identifying and engaging volunteers in grassroots advocacy campaigns that support AARP’s policy goals. AARP Vermont strives to develop a presence in communities statewide through strengthening visibility, media presence, volunteer capacity, building community partnerships, delivering social impact programs, events, and activities and outreach to AARP members and their families.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, which offers free virtual and in-person tax preparation assistance, is looking for volunteers for the upcoming tax season.
Erin Boyd of South Burlington has been appointed as Senior Operations Associate at AARP Vermont. In her position she will be responsible for budget analysis and financial management, office operations and event coordination across the state. She will support AARP’s work around advocacy, outreach and education and community service to include social impact campaigns that improve the quality of life for all Vermonters as they age.
The AARP Livable Community Team recently posted a series of photo albums, focused on AARP Community Challenge grant recipients around the country. The AARP Community Challenge has helped communities raise awareness about the need for local streets to be safe for all users, especially pedestrians.
AARP Vermont helped pass a new law that exempts more Vermonters and veterans from paying state tax on their Social Security benefits
