AARP Virgin Islands recently hosted its annual Disaster Preparedness Summit to support the aging population. The event addressed their unique needs during disasters, highlighting the importance of signing up for the Elder, Dependent Adult, and Disabled Person Registry.
This registry helps locate and assist seniors and disabled individuals living alone during emergencies. Presenters discussed preparedness measures and shared vital information to ensure safety and resilience in the face of hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.
AARP-VI aims to empower Virgin Islanders 50+, their families, and caregivers through such events, fostering collaboration with community partners to expand disaster preparedness outreach annually.
