For more than 40 years, AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE) has delivered assistance to low-income older residents of the nation’s capital. But did you know LCE makes house calls?

The Homebound Elderly Project (Project HELP) connects lawyers with low-income people 60-plus who cannot leave home to seek legal assistance. The lawyers handle a variety of civil cases, but no criminal cases. Services include preparing wills and assisting with landlord disputes, evictions, foreclosures and scams. LCE also will administer a public benefits checkup to make sure clients are getting all the services for which they are eligible.

Project HELP needs volunteers to serve as witnesses when documents are signed. Want to help? Call 202-434-2120 and ask for Project HELP.
