Building Support for Workplace Savings Plan

AARP Wisconsin is urging state lawmakers to introduce a bill in 2017 that could help more private-sector workers save for retirement. The Work and Save bill would create a simple payroll-deduction plan that small businesses could offer to their workers.

Participation would be voluntary for both employers and employees, and the plan would be portable when a worker changes jobs.

AARP Wisconsin is asking members to help by sharing personal stories about their efforts to save for retirement without having access to a 401(k) or similar plan at work.

“Having real personal stories from state residents will help our advocacy team push even harder for a workplace retirement option that provides all private-sector employees with the possibility to save for the future,” said Sam Wilson, AARP state director.
