First, attend a free concert featuring the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and Mariachi Sol de Mi Tierra on Sept. 15, then attend a musical workshop with Symphony Orchestra trumpeter Jeff Nevin on Sept. 19.

While the events are gratis, the Nevin workshop on Sept. 19 is only open to the first 30 AARP members to register. Call Roberto Rey at 303-318-6763 to get on the list and for more information about the workshop.

Meanwhile, AARP members and their families are invited to El Latir de Mexico Concert, a free concert featuring the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and "Sol de Mi Tierra" in celebration of Mexican Independence Day.

The concert will be Sept. 15, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the Boettcher Concert Hall - Performing Arts Complex, 1000 E 14th Street, Denver. AARP members can receive up to four free tickets. Tickets may be picked up at the Boettcher Hall box office by presenting an AARP membership card. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturdays 12-6 p.m.

The concert features a delightful mixture of classical and mariachi music by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, trumpeter Jeff Nevin, Mexican soprano Monica Abrego, and Mariachi Sol de Mi Tierra.

“This is a unique musical performance, bringing together the Colorado Symphony and Mariachi Sol de Mi Tierra,” said Angela Cortez, AARP communications director. “This is truly beautiful music, wrapped in our history. AARP is a sponsor and we encourage our members and their families to take advantage of this wonderful cultural offering.”
