Throughout life, many of us find ourselves with multiple opportunities to invent and reinvent our destinies. A chance to start anew, regardless of age, background or circumstance.

Born in Washington, D.C. in the early 60’s, the son of a poor, 16-year-old unwed mother, statistically, the odds were not in my favor. The love, support and Christian foundation given by my grandparents often carried me through where privilege and legacy could not.

Nonetheless, I had a bur ning determination for something better which led me to seek help wherever and whenever I could find it.

Through good fortune and divine intervention, I benefited from the transformative nature of meaningful advice and mentorship, which came mostly from outside my own immediate network. This expanded network directly led to my graduation from The United States Military Academy, successful military service during peace and wartime and the subsequent course change into the energy sector.At age 40, I received an MBA from the Wharton school of business and at age 50, I became a first-time parent of the most awesome twins on the planet. Surprisingly, at age 53, after a long and successful career in the energy sector, I found myself unemployed due to a corporate merger reorganization. It was at this point that I decided to follow my passion and launch a tech startup, TurtleWise.TurtleWise is a unique online advice and mentoring platform that matches experienced advisors (Gurus) with those seeking advice (Explorers). Most of our user base are Millennials who have many meaningful questions on how to navigate important life issues.My story continues and no matter where the journey leads, it won’t be limited by age, background or circumstances.
