As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

As the world begins to re-open and COVID-19 vaccines are readily available, the job market is showing signs of recovering from last year’s economic shutdown. To make sure you appear as a top candidate on the jobs you’re interested in, here are a few tips to improve the look of your resume.

As vaccinations become readily available, more and more companies are discussing plans to re-introduce their employees back to the office. However, some employees 50+ are hesitant to make the transition. According to a survey by HR research firm Workspace Intelligence and WeWork, 88 percent of participants 55 or older want some kind of control over where they work. AARP Awards Six Arizona Organizations with Community Grants as Part of its Successful Nationwide Program
AARP Arizona is thrilled to have Brendon Blake as the new Associate State Director of Advocacy. Brendon works as a member of the state team in collaboration with the national office to promote AARP’s strategic advocacy issues. He has been part of the AARP AZ State office team for the last 5 years, “It’s an honor and a pleasure to replace my mentor Steve Jennings and I am thrilled to be leading our advocacy efforts in the state” said Brendon. “Steve left an incredible foundation of relationships and achievements he spent years cultivating, I’m both humbled and confident in my ability to fill his shoes with the amazing team of staff and volunteers around me”. His work during the past year as a Senior Program Specialist has resulted in increased AARP visibility at the AZ legislation and the AZ Corporation Commission with issues such as long-term care, utilities and Rx pricing to name a few.
