AARP Eye Center
AARP has awarded three Community Challenge grants to make neighborhoods in Arkansas more livable and accessible:
• The city of Benton is replacing traditionally designed crosswalks with colorful, thermoplastic ones, enhancing the walkability of downtown.
• Main Street Batesville is enhancing a park in the downtown district with a meditation garden, waterfall and landscaping.
• Main Street West Memphis is creating a public art display of salvaged bicycles, painted by students from local schools. The site will serve as a community gathering place and future mini-park.
This year, AARP is awarding 159 Community Challenge grants across the nation, totaling nearly $1.6 million. Learn more about livable communities programs at aarp.org/livable.
