Listening to and Looking Out for Veterans

Veterans2

Nearly 1 in 10 Arkansas adults are veterans, and AARP Arkansas is hard at work looking out for them.

Through the AARP Veterans, Military and their Families initiative and the Arkansas Veterans Team, the state office is serving as a sounding board and an advocate for those who have served the country. AARP Arkansas has protected veterans from fraud and plans to press state lawmakers for a caregiver tax credit when they reconvene in 2019.

AARP also invites veterans to post their stories under the headline “The Buddy I’ll Never Forget” at aarp.org/home-family/voices/veterans.

Nearly half of Arkansas’ 225,118 veterans (46 percent) are 65 or older, and 48,347 receive disability benefits.
