Free Advice on Budgeting, Retirement Planning, Income Taxes, Investment Strategies

AARP California invites you to participate in a Financial Planning Day taking place in a city near you and planned in our state from October 10th through November 7th. 

Organized in partnership with local city governments, Financial Planning Days are free public events where attendees have an opportunity to address personal finance questions one-on-one with highly qualified CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals who will volunteer their time.  The events will also feature informative classroom workshops addressing key areas of financial planning.

Best of all – it’s all free and there are no strings attached! Financial planners are participating as volunteers and they will not take down names, sell products or services, or give out business cards or marketing materials.

The initiative is organized by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board), Financial Planning Association, Foundation for Financial Planning, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Financial planners will be set up at their own tables to meet one-on-one with attendees to answer questions on getting out of debt, retirement planning, investment strategies, income taxes, insurance, mortgages and foreclosures, among many other topics. The advice will be offered on a “no strings attached” basis and planners will not give out business cards or sell financial products or services.

The event will also feature a series of classroom-style educational workshops addressing key personal finance topics, including: Real World Retirement Planning, Budgeting 101 and Investing Basics.

The collaboration is a first-of-its kind effort involving city governments and thousands of financial planners nationwide united in an effort to provide free financial education and programming to communities throughout the U.S.
