Join us at the Aging Summit 2016, an event organized by the Health and Human Services Agency of San Diego County and Live Well San Diego to explore livable communities and healthy aging.
During this Aging Summit, San Diego County will receive a certificate acknowledging its enrollment in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities which recognizes its commitment to becoming an age-friendly community.
Members of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities are part of a global network of communities that are committed to giving residents of all ages the opportunity to live rewarding, productive and safe lives. Communities as diverse as Boston, Massachusetts; Honolulu, Hawaii; and most recently, Los Angeles County and city, have all committed to making improvements in eight domains that influence the health and quality of life for residents of all ages: outdoor spaces and buildings, transportation, housing, social participation, respected and social inclusion, civic participation and employment, communication and information and community support and health services.
Attendees will have the opportunity to view a livable home and a livable community exhibit and then provide their input on priorities to address for the Age Friendly
Communities Initiative. We will also include valuable information for family caregivers, particularly those dealing with the challenges of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.
Your participation at the Aging Summit will also be an opportunity to listen to Dick Van Dyke, Keynote speaker. He will be joined by other interesting speakers that will be offering breakout sessions on a series of topics related to aging well. Additionally, there will be resources and opportunities for participants to meet local exhibitors.
