AARP Eye Center
Join AARP on Sunday, September 17 th from 10AM-3PM at #VivaCalleSJ in San Jose, California. Viva Calle is a FREE event that opens over 7 miles of car free streets to bring people to walk, bike, skate, play and explore the city like never before. It is not a race, there is no start or finish line, and you don’t need a bike to participate – you can walk if you want!
AARP will be located at the Mexican Heritage Plaza (1700 Alum Rock Ave, San Jose), where you can enjoy fun activities, music, food, and learn about AARP’s work to make communities livable for all ages. AARP will provide FREE pedicab rides to and from Japantown and the Mexican Heritage Plaza. In between hub spots, make sure to check out Roosevelt Park, where Tai Chi classes will be offered to improve strength, balance and endurance.
In addition, Senior Services will be hosting the “50X50 Walk a Mile Challenge,” which will engage 50 residents over the age of 50 to walk 1 mile in support of senior health. Participants will walk from Roosevelt Park to the Mexican Heritage Plaza. You can sign up to participate in the walk at Roosevelt Community Center. All proceeds from the walk will be donated back to the community center to support senior programs.
We look forward to seeing you on September 17th! Make sure to keep an eye out for AARP’s FREE pedicabs and visit the Mexican Heritage Plaza hub for information regarding upcoming AARP programs and activities in your neighborhood.
