Seven Colorado organizations received 2024 AARP Community Challenge grants, totaling nearly $83,000. The grants fund projects aimed at improving public spaces, housing, transit and civic engagement, among other goals. Nationally, AARP awarded $3.8 million in grants for 343 projects this year.

AARP Colorado celebrated the volunteerism of Fruita resident JaNeva Marshall, as well as the Food Bank of the Rockies; Western Slope’s efforts to relieve hunger and provide community support with Volunteer of the Year and Community Partner awards, respectively.

Colorado’s statewide primary is Tuesday, June 25. Under a 2023 law, all unaffiliated voters will receive mail ballots for both major parties but may fill out and return only one. Voters who are registered with a political party can vote only in that party’s primary. Mail ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on primary day.
