The Weld Aging Well Program provides innovative workshops and classes that support the health and independence of older adults and their caregivers by giving them tools to better manage their health. Check out classes below.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers: If you are caring for a loved one at home, this educational workshop for family caregivers (no professional caregivers, please) will help you learn relaxation techniques; to communicate effectively with other family members, doctors and paid help; to reduce stress, guilt and anger; and to set goals and problem-solve. This program will help you take care of yourself while caring for a loved one. Each participant will receive a how-to book to accompany the class content. The workshop meets once a week for 6 weeks. A Matter of Balance: Learn ways to reduce the fear of falling and break the fear of falling cycle by increasing activity levels. This award-winning program focuses on practical coping strategies. A variety of activities address physical, social and cognitive factors affecting fear of falling. This workshop meets once a week for 8 weeks. Wednesdays, March 7 th-April 25 th 2018, 1:30-3:30 pm at the Eaton Area Community Center. The class is FREE for people 60 and older, but registration is required. To register, call (970) 400-6117.
Healthier Living: Be proactive and learn tools to become a better self-manager of your chronic condition(s) like heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, COPD, pain, etc. Learn to apply the knowledge you already know, such as proper nutrition, developing an exercise program, problem-solving, relaxation techniques and setting achievable goals. This workshop meets once a week for 6 weeks. Wednesdays, May 2 nd-June 6 th 2018, 1:30-4:00 pm at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
