Join AARP Colorado and History Colorado for “Race: Are We So Different?”

The traveling exhibit runs through January 4, 2015 and features a number of programs. AARP Members are entitled to a discount.

The exhibit was developed by the American Anthropological Association and supported by the Ford Foundation and the National Science Foundation. The educational goal of the exhibit is to help individuals of all ages better understand the origins and manifestations of race and racism in everyday life by investigating race and human variation through the framework of science.

FWD: Race Civic Engagement Series at the History Colorado Center.

History Colorado will bring the national discussion on race presented in the exhibit to the local level through its “FWD: Race Civic Engagement Series,” which includes three community presentations and discussions on October 14, 2014, November 11, 2014 and December 9, 2014. The series will explore the changing demographics of Colorado and what race and identity mean for our future. The series continues for six months, which includes February 24: Chicano Identity and RACE; March 24: Social Movements of the 1960s and Early 1970s; and April 29: Colorado Today.

AARP members will receive a $2 discount on History Colorado Center admissions, with a limit of four tickets per member (regular price $12 adults under 65, $10 adults over 65); a $2 discount on tickets to “FWD: Race Civic Engagement Series,” limit 4 tickets per member (regular price $5); $5 discount on any level of annual membership to History Colorado for AARP members (regular price: individual $65, family $80.
