The Boulder County Latino History Project, a study sponsored in-part by AARP Colorado, recently released Latinos of Boulder County, Colorado, 1900-1980, a work of nonfiction by Marjorie K. McIntosh.

In this two-volume set, McIntosh presents "stories of struggle and the implacable force of dignity in the Chicana and Chicano community in Boulder County," said Arturo Aldama, Ph.D., a University of Colorado at Boulder Professor.

"The singular and collective power of the voices of individuals and families heard in these volumes is profound, complex and long lasting. You will be bowled over by the eloquence, truth and the enduring power of dignidad of the voices in this study," he said.

The Boulder County Latino History Project is working to make the findings part of the Boulder County school curriculum by donating books to the schools.

Phil Hernandez, volunteer chair of AARP Colorado El Comité and a member of AARP's executive council, said this is an important project.

"This is a study that deserves your attention," he said. "Latinos contributed quite a bit to Boulder County and many don't know just how significant this contribution has been. It speaks to the human experience in the United States."
