AARP Eye Center
AARP realizes that healthy habits, including exercise and eating right, can lead to a better, longer, happier life. Join AARP Colorado members and volunteers for 5 and 6-week Virtual Fitness classes starting in April, in the comfort of your own home. Certified instructors will lead you each week in classes focusing on yoga, barre, functional fitness and low-impact cardio plus strength training.
These online classes are tailored for a variety of levels. Pre-registration is required, you must choose which sessions you hope to attend, so register today! Each participant in these events must complete a waiver of liability as part of the registration process prior to participating. If you would like to invite a guest to this event, they will need to register themselves directly to agree to the liability waiver. Please consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.
No experience necessary. Classes are free of charge, but you must register for each class to receive the unique zoom link to attend. Attend one or attend them all!

Functional Fitness
Monday, April 22 - May 20, 2024

Wake up your week with some Monday Morning Motivation! Join us for functional training that works your entire body by targeting the basic functional movements of daily life: push, pull, squat, hinge, lunge, rotation, and motion. All you need is your own bodyweight and a little room to move.

Barre
Monday, April 22 - May 20, 2024

Barre is a fun fusion class, incorporating aspects of ballet, Pilates, yoga, and strength training. All levels are welcome, and previous experience in any of these formats is not required. In the class, we combine small isolated movements with larger range of motion movements for a high intensity, low impact workout. We will work to improve muscle endurance, core strength, posture, balance, and flexibility.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a style of yoga that encourages physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. Appropriate for all levels, restorative yoga is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on long holds, stillness, and deep breathing.

Low Impact Cardio/Strength Building

Let’s get your heart rate up with low impact cardio, combined with strength and balance training for a fun and sweaty full body workout. We’ll finish with an energizing stretch so you’re ready to tackle the rest of your day.

Hatha Yoga (6 week session)
Fridays, April 26 - May 31, 2024
9 - 10 a.m.
Certified yoga instructor Teri Mullen will guide you in the gentle postures of Hatha yoga, which are typically held longer and practiced more slowly. No experience is necessary - yoga starts where you are!
Yoga can help you increase flexibility and improve balance, stability and muscle tone as you learn the basic principles and practice breathing and mindfulness. You may also gain strength and reduce chronic pain. A yoga mat or blanket, bolsters and yoga blocks may be helpful.
