This fall, AARP Connecticut will award grants to help cities, towns and nonprofit organizations across the state make their communities more livable for residents of all ages.

The Livable Communities initiative is a local version of AARP’s national Community Challenge grant program. The grants fund quick-action projects focused on housing, transportation, social participation, outdoor spaces and other areas.

Past grants have funded free outdoor libraries, food pantries, social events for veterans and an oral history project. A 2024 recipient, UR Community Cares in Manchester, used its $4,900 grant to help fund a resource center where low-vision and blind residents can learn to use technology and other tools to help them be independent.

Learn more at aarp.org/ct. Apply by emailing your application to CTLivable@aarp.org by Friday, Aug. 15.
