As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

New AARP caregiving data released today, Caregiving in the U.S. 2025: Caring Across States[ZI1] , finds that 24% of adults in Delaware — approximately 197,000 people — are family caregivers, providing largely unpaid and unsupported care to older parents, spouses, and other loved ones.

AARP is encouraging all seniors to review their Medicare health and prescription coverage during this year’s Medicare Open Enrollment period—October 15 th through December 7 th—and compare plans to see if there is a plan that better suits their health needs for 2019. Some people may be able to reduce their prescription drug costs substantially by switching to a different Part D plan.

Consumers to Line up at ‘Shred Fest 2018’ to Keep Documents from Identity Thieves
AARP Delaware and the Bear Glasgow YMCA are teaming up to bring you fitness, food, friends and fun. The event will feature an exciting line-up of entertainment, family activities, music, refreshments, awards and giveaways. Enjoy juggling, face painting and balloon twisting. All are encouraged to wear a favorite costume and win a prize if you win "best costume."
