Pushing back on FP&L Rate Increase

Utility Bill Money Picture
Affordable_Utilities_Now

AARP Florida is standing up for all Sunshine State residents, pushing back on a utility rate increase requested by Florida Power & Light, which provides electricity to more than 11 million people statewide.

The power company is asking for a total increase of $2 billion in the base rate over the next four years. Floridians on fixed incomes are already worried about housing and drug costs. AARP Florida is working to make sure they don’t have to pay higher energy costs, as well.

Average bills for FP&L customers would go up 18 percent over the four years.

Find out how you can help fight the rate hike by going to states.aarp.org/florida/utilities. To file a comment with the Public Service Commission, which reviews rate-increase requests, visit psc.state.fl.us and scroll to File a Utility Complaint.
