It's important to keep this in mind when forming an effective plan, and to consider your personal needs. Disaster preparation is more than storing water and food, and every situation requires a different solution.

AARP is mounting a local campaign to fight identity theft and fraud through its Fraud Watch Network.

WASHINGTON, DC – AARP volunteers and staff from Idaho and every other state in the nation visited Capitol Hill today to express opposition to the President’s proposed Social Security benefit cut known as Chained CPI and to support responsible solutions to strengthen Medicare for Idahoans. Meeting with Senators Mike Crapo and James Risch and Representatives Raul Labrador and Mike Simpson and their staff, AARP volunteers urged our representatives to have a separate debate on Social Security and to back specific proposals that would strengthen Medicare and the health care system overall.

Boise, Idaho – After more than two hours of debate, the Senate Health and Welfare Committee approved a bill (SB1053) changing the way SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits are distributed in Idaho. The vote was 6-3 and the bill will now head to the Senate floor for a full vote with a do-pass recommendation. A similar bill failed to get out of the same committee last year.

Boise, Idaho - AARP Idaho state volunteer president Peggy Munson testified in front of the Idaho Senate Commerce & Human resources committee in support of a Senate Bill 1042 which would establish a state-based health insurance exchange in Idaho.

Each year AARP Idaho honors a volunteer with the Andrus Award for Outstanding Community Service. This year, Gary Willett was recognized for his outstanding work in the community, including his leadership in AARP Idaho’s Tax Aide program.
