AARP Eye Center
(Español) Have you seen the stunning mural coming to life in Little Village in a BIG Way to celebrate our community and our culture? The painting by local artist Liz Reyes on the walls of Nuevo Leon restaurant celebrates Dia de Muertos and the importance of caring for loved ones, including those who came before us.
AARP in Chicago commissioned the work, Celebrando Comunidad, to serve as a lasting reminder to Chicago residents that as they care for their friends and loved ones, we offer resources and support. For example, you can connect with AARP right here for a cafecito, a caregiving workshop or conference, or a film festival.
We hope you’ll join us on Oct. 18 for a lively and fun-filled celebration to dedicate the mural. The party starts at 3:30 p.m., at Nuevo Leon. Music, art activities and face-painting. Click here to RSVP.
The mural is a centerpiece of the Chicago Sun-Times Murals and Mosaics project, which provides a guide to a selection of outdoor art throughout Chicagoland, for which AARP is the sole sponsor.
In a community that is proud of its family, culture and tradition, residents are already buzzing about the project. Check out all the excitement here: Chicago Now, NBC 5, Little Village Chamber of Commerce on Facebook
