2019 is turning out to be a year of two 50th anniversaries…the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall riots…and the 50th Anniversary of the Chicago Pride Parade! AARP Chicago is extremely excited to be celebrating these milestones all throughout the month of June…and the rest of 2019!
We are joining the effort with StoryCorps for their Stonewall OutLoud project. To honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, we are asking AARP members in Illinois to pick up your mobile devices and use the StoryCorps App to record the stories of people within the LGBTQ community who were born before the 1969 Stonewall Riots. Each of these interviews will become a permanent part of American history at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. AARP Illinois is looking to get 50 stories – one for each year - this month…to learn more about the project, visit https://storycorps.org/discover/outloud/
