On Tuesday, August 31st, state legislators will meet again in Springfield to continue their discussions on the omnibus energy bill, which is projected to include the BIGGEST rate hike in Illinois history.

While AARP Illinois supports clean energy solutions for Illinois, consumer voices continue to be left out of these closed-door discussions. Not only will older adults on fixed incomes have to pay more, this energy bill will include increased nuclear bailouts and a new rate structure that will again guarantee billion dollar profits to corrupt corporations with no real accountability.
