Veterans, active-duty service members and their families are invited to join us for a fraud prevention presentation specifically focused on the unique tactics and methods con artists are using to steal money and personal identities from veterans and their families. This group is nearly 40% more likely than civilians to lose money to scams and fraud, and education is the best way to fight back. Lunch provided; advance registration required.



Community Conversations with Iowa Life: Caring for Caregivers

Join us for an important conversation about the challenges and compassion involved with caregiving. This in-person and virtual discussion will open the conversation for caregivers of all types including family members, friends, professional caregivers, and those providing support for aging parents, individuals with disabilities, or loved ones facing chronic illness.

Attendees will preview local and national content, including an Iowa PBS special from Iowa Life and a documentary produced by Bradley Cooper titled Caregiving. A community discussion with local experts will follow.

In this presentation, we’ll review the basic features of the most popular digital wallets (Apple Wallet and Google Wallet) and talk about their many uses beyond purchases. We’ll also discuss features/considerations for security and privacy.

"Stop the Scammers" Tour

AARP is partnering with the Iowa Department of Insurance & Financial Services on a series of fraud education across the state this spring and summer. These free events will include a presentation and materials on how to spot and avoid scams and fraud. A light meal will be provided at each stop.
