Brain Health Series*

REGISTER New Advances in Alzheimer's Treatments:  November 30th at noon
Teri Skoog, Community Educator, Alzheimer's Association Iowa Chapter

Research continues to advance regarding treatments for Alzheimer's and all other dementias. This educational program will give you information on:

  • The list of FDA-approved treatments for Alzheimer's.
  • Explain the impact of Aducanumab (Aduhelm) of amyloid plaques in the brain, and the potential benefits and side effects.
  • Explain the pathways to access treatment.
  • Describe the resources available through the Alzheimer's Association.

AARP Movie Night

AARP invites you to a special Movies for Grownups screening of The Grinch!
The Grinch attempts to undermine the annual Christmas celebration at Whoville with the help of his loyal dog and reindeer. Disguised as Santa Claus he tries to steal all the presents, but his cover is threatened by an earnest young girl.

We’ll share real-life, Iowa examples of what works and what doesn’t, offer new, innovative tactics, and remind you of the tried-and-true tools that work almost every time (HINT: make that phone call). Our goal? Simple, to help you reach yours.

Join us for a fun game of virtual trivia via Zoom! AARP Iowa, AARP Nebraska and AARP North Dakota are joint-hosting a fun-filled evening of friendly competition, laughter and community! Connect with members and guests as we test our knowledge and learn about how AARP is supporting the 50-plus. We will be playing Live Trivia, where teams compete against one another on a variety of categories such as pop culture, sports, history and AARP. The winning team will receive a prize!

Meet Iowa’s New Long-Term Care Ombudsman

This office operates as an independent entity within the Iowa Department on Aging. Its mission is to protect the health, safety, welfare, and rights of individuals residing in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities to enhance the quality of life and care. Join us to meet the new Ombudsman and learn about this important resource.
