We know it takes teamwork and this is a proud Kentucky moment to have a Lexington native and a Kentucky-born thoroughbred claim the Kentucky Derby’s Garland of Roses. Even with the 19 horse field and slow track conditions, Joel Rosario and Orb delivered another impressive and exciting performance with their come from behind, 2 1/2-length victory. "Shug" and his team’s victory has captured the imagination of the nation and restored the dream of an overdue Triple Crown winner. It is another proud moment for our Commonwealth; we applaud you, the Phipps Family and the entire leadership team’s dedication and exceptional effort.

We know this is a well-deserved “dream come true”, and it is the pursuit of his dream that has rightfully landed "Shug" in Churchill Down’s winner circle and the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.
