Veterans Honored with Special Pearl Harbor Day Food Distribution in Ohio County
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Ohio County Food Pantry and local AARP volunteers are sponsoring a special Pearl Harbor Day food basket distribution to fight hunger and honor Veterans.
- WHAT: Curb-side food distribution honoring Veterans on Pearl Harbor Day 2020. (Volunteers will place food items in vehicles and face coverings are required for pickup.)
- WHO: Open to all Veterans and Retired Military (Valid Military ID Required; One basket per household; First Come-First Serve; Supply is limited.)
- WHEN: Monday, December 7, 2020 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CST

Kentucky has the highest rate of food insecurity among adults age 50-59 among all 50 states, according to studies released by Feeding Kentucky, part of the nationwide Feeding America program. The “Hunger Among Adults Age 50-59 in 2018” report shows for the second year in a row, Kentucky has the highest rate in the nation of food insecurity among older adults.
• 1 in 12 seniors do not know where their next meal will come from.
• Poverty rates are increasing among Americans over 65 years old.
• By 2025, hunger is predicted to double among seniors.
