Celebration of "Unsung Heroes" in Louisville Faith Communities

Third Annual AARP Kentucky Real Possibilities Faith Awards 2019 honors volunteers serving others in their communities of faith. Special guest, songwriter and actress, Regina Belle, was in Louisville to present awards at Kentucky Center for African American Heritage.
AARP in Louisville proudly hosted its third year honoring “unsung heroes” across Louisville’s communities of faith. The Real Possibilities Faith Awards spotlights the day-in and day-out volunteer service to community. Regina Belle is an AARP nationwide spokesperson for caregivers whose life experiences and health challenges make her a champion in the area of caregiving. Hundreds of local family members and supporters were present to honor their nominees and winners in the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage.

AARP Kentucky convened a Selection Committee of AARP volunteers and community organizations in Louisville to ensure diverse perspectives and review all nominations. The selection of the final recipients included:
• Organization nominate nor more than 3 nominees;
• All nominees were presented a Certificate recognizing their service;
• A total of three (3) recipients were awarded a commemorative AARP Real Possibilities Faith Award plaque;
• Recipients were determined from 3 size categories: <100; 101 to 250 and >250
• One winner in each Faith Community size category received $500 check to their Faith Community.
Requirements for Faith Award Eligibility included:
• 50 years or older;
• Service, accomplishments, achievements, or service on which the nomination is based must have been performed on a volunteer basis, without pay;
• Nominee must have been an active member of the organization for a minimum of 5 years or longer;
• Service must have been performed in Kentucky.
