Founded in New York City in 1978, SAGE, which stands for Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders, is the nation’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender older adults. While the organization is still based in New York, it now has local and statewide affiliates throughout the country, including Maine.
AARP serves as an official supporter for the sixth annual Small Business Saturday, which takes place this year on Saturday, November 28.
As we get older, we can fall into traps. Traps in certain ways of thinking. Traps in a particular habits we have become unaccustomed to. Most importantly, traps in how we view ourselves and the world around us. Sometimes, it takes a little imagination, and a lot of effort, to redefine those views and those ways of thinking.
It's not everyday a small non-profit wins a film award but we've been lucky enough to win two of them! Recently, The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) honored our short film, "With Friends Like These," with two 2015 Communicator Awards! We're excited to say that the film won Silver for "Online Documentary" and "Online Video - Activism." You can view the film, directed by award-winning filmmaker, John Martin, below.
