Making a difference where you live
For 90 years Social Security has delivered for Marylanders. Lets pledge to keep it strong for another 90 years and beyond.
This summer, AARP is joining with communities across the country to celebrate that legacy, while rallying public support to protect its future.
The quick-action projects are aimed at making communities more livable for people of all ages, with a focus on the needs of older adults.
One in 4 Americans provide ongoing, complex care; report finds they endure poor health, financial strain and isolation. Up 20 million since 2015
AARP is educating adults 50 and over about third-party energy suppliers as part of its Fraud Watch Friday webinars and plans to hold an energy conference this fall on ways to strengthen state laws to better protect consumers.
Through August 12, AARP is accepting nominations for its 2022 Maryland Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors Marylanders aged 50+ who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.

Guest author Eleanor Nancarrow is a senior at University of Maryland Baltimore County and intern with AARP Maryland.
AARP Maryland is launching a 16-week transit advertising campaign to help more Marylanders access COVID-19 vaccinations in their area. Aimed at audiences that may lack access to broadband internet, the posters appearing in both English and Spanish on 35 bus shelters and 206 transit buses across Baltimore, Montgomery County and the Eastern Shore shares the state’s toll-free line (855-GO-MDVAX) if they have questions or to schedule a vaccine appointment.
Fraudsters are offering older people purported miracle cures, preventive drugs and vaccine appointments—for a fee. These scams exploit potential victims’ anxiety about having to wait for a vaccination. The past year has heightened people’s isolation and made them more susceptible to such pitches.
Don't just toss your sensitive documents...shred 'em for free with AARP! We also have a wealth of valuable information at our AARP Fraud Watch Network workshops about how to stay savvy to the latest scams out there and how to keep yourself and loved ones safe. Our shreds and workshops (often combined) are must-attend events that you don't want to miss! When it comes to our shredding events, please remember: no businesses please, and make sure to remove all plastic and metal clips from documents to be shredded.
