Volunteering

Meet our volunteers and find opportunities to get involved with our outreach and community service programs.
AARP Maryland is helping to increase food donations for the Harvest for the Hungry Food drive in March 2013 by recruiting volunteers to staff donation tables at Safeway Stores in Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, and stores in Washington DC and Northern Virginia. During the week of March 9-16, 2013 volunteers will encourage shoppers to donate food or purchase and donate a prepackaged bag of food items to help stock the Capital Food Bank after the holiday food donations are close to depletion. As Larry Adam, Director of the Harvest for the Hungry Campaign says, “Hunger knows no holiday.” Please donate during the week of March 9th by placing non perishable items at your mailbox or contact Jen Holz at 410-895-7602 to volunteer that week!
In a city with astronomical high school dropout rates, the AARP Baltimore City Experience Corps has made a difference by linking AARP volunteers with children who need extra reading help.
