4/30 UPDATE: The 2018 Spring Food Drive is complete! Thank you to all of the volunteers and those who stopped at their respective locations to donate food to less-fortunate Marylanders. View some photos from the event on Twitter. We will have an update coming soon with the total poundage of food collected, so stay tuned!
The week of April 16-22 is National Volunteer Week. At AARP Maryland, we are incredibly lucky to work with more than 600 volunteers across the state to make life better for 50+ Marylanders and their families...all year long!
If you've been keeping up with our major projects this year, you know that we have two large-scale, volunteer-driven events on the horizon in 2018: our annual spring food drive at the end of April, and our first intergenerational playground project breaking ground in Baltimore on May 10!
From participating in a fun Chinese New Year celebration in Howard County to hosting our first (and most popular to-date) free movie screening of Black Panther in Owings Mills, we stayed busy last month! Check out a few images from our February events below. If you're interested in joining our volunteer team and making a difference in your community with AARP, take a moment to fill out our volunteer interest form and someone will be in touch soon!
Are you comfortable with public speaking? If so, we need you as a volunteer! Mark your calendar for January 31st and come see us at our Speaker's Bureau and Volunteer Engagement Open House!
AARP Chapters across the state of Maryland are all vital parts of their community and take time to give back. We're proud to see the hard work they accomplish each and every year. As 2017 comes to an end we'd like to shine a spotlight on one chapter that has really gone above and beyond to volunteer in their community: Suitland Maryland Chapter 939.
