AARP is making a post-pandemic push to combat loneliness and social isolation by hosting a series of in-person events, including a trip to the New England Botanic Garden, ice cream socials and an outing to the Cambridge Jazz Festival. A 2023 advisory from the U.S. surgeon general declared increasing loneliness, isolation and lack of connection to be a public health crisis.

At the annual AARP Massachusetts volunteer conference, Sen. Markey shared his family caregiving story: his father, a retired milkman, cared for his mother after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 1985. At the conference in Worcester, volunteers learned a variety of ways they can use their time and talents to help the Bay State's 50+ population.
How ready for retirement are you? In theory, we all know it’s important to plan ahead, but in reality, many of us keep putting it off. According to a 2022 AARP report, 86% of working adults understand the importance of preparing for retirement, but only about 40% feel they are prepared to retire.
