As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older Georgians—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.
Join AARP in St. Louis for the Breakfast Bunch (part of the Ten Toe Express program) where we visit a different St. Louis eatery for breakfast each Saturday through June 20 th. The Eclipse in University City was our first destination which proved to be a yummy choice. Check out our other destinations and how to register.
Join AARP in St. Louis at the 2015 St. Louis Senior Olympics May 21 st – 26 th and cheer on Team AARP! This group of athletes will have the opportunity to compete in over 90 different individual and team events throughout the St. Louis region. The 50 Team AARP athletes will be competing in events from Washers to Golf. Learn more about the event and some of our athletes.
Like to get your hands dirty? Need a little ‘soil therapy'? AARP would like to share information about a volunteer opportunity for those of us who like to dig in the dirt from Gateway Greening. The Great Perennial Divide is St. Louis' largest gardening volunteer event involving more than 75 gardens across the metro area.
The AARP St. Louis booth at the St Louis Home & Garden show was a hit! We had over 2200 people visit our booth over the four days of the show despite the snowy weather on Saturday and Sunday! Visitors were treated to an oven stick, a jar opener and the amazing newly revised AARP Home Fit Guide. They were also treated to home modification information and demonstrations by Rebuilding Together – St. Louis.
The St. Louis Symphony once again is offering a discount (50% off) opportunity for AARP members and their guests. On Saturday, April 11 th at 8:00 pm you will be treated to a wonderful performance of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. You won’t want to miss this opportunity. Click here for tickets. AARP members and guests are cordially invited to spend the evening of March 6th enjoying the talents of famed soprano Christine Brewer and Bruckner’s Third Symphony. Brewer is a Grammy Award-winning American artist who was named one of the top 20 sopranos of all time. She is acclaimed for her range, power and control of any stage where she performs. All of her singing attributes make her a favorite and highly sought-after recording artist.

AARP in Missouri is teaming up with CU Community Credit Union and the Computer Recycling Center in Springfield, MO for a Fraud Prevention Day. There will be free paper shredding and digital recycling at the Computer Recycling Center at 528 N. Prince Lane in Springfield from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 28. Help protect yourself from identity theft by safely recycling sensitive information on paper or on digital media like hard drives, laptop computers or cell phones. AARP and CU Community Credit Union will have fraud prevention information on hand.
The Missouri Public Services Commission (PSC) is holding public hearings this month on a nearly 10% rate hike requested by Ameren Missouri. Ameren, the largest electric utility in the state, has already been allowed to raise rates on customers by over $600 million – or 43% - through Fuel Adjustment Clause Surcharges.
More than 160 individuals participated in an interactive brain game room, nutrition and exercise classes, and other activities during the Brain Health “Memory Clinic” that was held on November 8, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The clinic, free and open to those 18 and older, was held at the Mary L. Kelly Community Center in Kansas City.
