Fire Legacy: Free Screening of Film About Major Wildfire

Crowd audience looking at screen

AARP Montana is offering a free screening of the PBS film Higgins Ridge to mark the 75th anniversary week of the deadly Mann Gulch fire.

The movie recounts the valor of smoke jumpers in that blaze and the Higgins Ridge fire 12 years later.

The screening will be 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Myrna Loy theater in Helena (15 N. Ewing St.). A free 6 p.m. reception precedes the movie, and a discussion featuring a Higgins Ridge survivor will follow it.
