A program pairing older adults with youth to grow vegetables in Ravalli County. A dog park in Cut Bank. An outdoor fitness park in East Helena.

Those are just some of the 41 projects made possible with nearly $436,000 in AARP Community Challenge grants distributed across Montana since 2017.

Applications for 2024 funds are open from January to March.

Grants fund projects by local governments and nonprofits; while there is no set funding amount, past grants ranged from $500 to $50,000. For more on previous awards, see states.aarp.org/montana/mtcommunities.
