AARP Eye Center
AARP Montana is looking for stories from residents about the importance of Social Security to their lives.
The government program for older Americans, those with disabilities and others will be a focus of Congress as lawmakers look to stabilize its finances. The latest Social Security trustees report says the program is projected to be able to pay only about 80 percent of benefits starting in 2034.
“AARP is urging Washington to find a solution to protect and save Social Security so folks get the money they’ve earned,” says Tim Summers, AARP Montana state director.
AARP Montana is collecting residents’ stories; submit yours at aarp.org/MTSocialSecurity. They’ll be used in a social media campaign that will tag members of Congress as they weigh how to keep Social Security solvent.
