Montana voters strongly favor keeping Medicaid expansion in the state, as well as the creation of a new tax credit for family caregiver expenses, a recent AARP poll shows.
The poll of 1,064 likely voters was taken in August, asking about the November election as well as key policy issues.
On Medicaid, the joint state-federal health care program for low-income residents, respondents were asked about an expanded version of the program that took effect in 2016 but is set to expire in June 2025. Asked if they wanted to renew the expansion, 75 percent of respondents said yes (51 percent of them “strongly support” doing so).
On the family caregivers’ issue, respondents were asked if they supported funding a state tax credit “to help with some of the out-of-pocket expenses” they incur; 74 percent said yes (32 percent strongly).
