Join us on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Pines Manor in Edison for AARP New Jersey’s Fraud Prevention Summit: Rethinking Fraud. featuring keynote speakers, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and Kathy Stokes, Director of Fraud Prevention Programs at AARP.
During the Summit, Attorney General Platkin will speak to his experience as New Jersey’s chief law enforcement officer, where he has prioritized the safety of New Jersey residents and prioritized consumer protections by enforcing the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act—one of the broadest consumer protection laws in the country. Stokes will discuss the evolving nature of fraud and the things individuals can do to “harden the target” to protect themselves and their loved ones. She will also address the roles that other societal sectors must play in combating fraud.
In addition, the Summit will feature a presentation by Karin Price Mueller, Star-Ledger Columnist and Founder of NJMoneyHelp.com, on the most prevalent scams affecting New Jersey citizens and insights into the emerging scams that residents may face in the future. This will be followed by a panel, “Behind the Badge: Tackling Fraud with Law Enforcement Experts” with law enforcement experts specializing in fraud from around the state. Panelists include: Glenn Gizzi, Senior Stakeholder Liaison, Internal Revenue Service (IRS); Detective Marcus Goode, Middlesex Prosecutor’s Office; and Wilson Rodriguez, Postal Inspector, Edison Field Office of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS).
Registration is required and space is limited. The event is FREE and you do not need to be an AARP member to participate. Parking is free on site. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
