As part of its ongoing efforts to help consumers avoid falling victim to identity theft, AARP New Mexico will join in “ Shred Fest 2016” to help consumers safely dispose of their financial documents with free document shredding events in Santa Fe and Las Cruces that are open to the public. Both events are Saturday, April 30 th.

This family oriented event will be Saturday, May 30 th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cottonwood Mall in Albuquerque.
To many of us getting older means slowing down but that doesn’t have to be the case. Join AARP New Mexico and Dr. Anne Simpson April 30 th for a deep discussion on how staying healthy and engaged in your community as we age can lead to a better life. Dr. Simpson is the director of the University of New Mexico School Of Medicine’s Institute for Ethics.
To recognize their work to support family caregivers in New Mexico, AARP named New Mexico State Sen. Michael Padilla and State Rep. Tomas Salazar as 2014 “Capitol Caregivers”,a bipartisan group of 46 state legislators and three governors from 19 states. These elected officials have advanced policies to help family caregivers who are making it possible for older New Mexicans to live independently at home—where they want to be.
