AARP Pennsylvania joined Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk, Allentown Mural Arts, and mural artist Hector Castro to unveil Allentown’s newest public art focused on healthy aging, diversity, and opportunity. The mural is in La Placita mini park on Hamilton Street, connecting the rapidly growing downtown and the city’s new waterfront developments.

AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2023 Pennsylvania Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ Pennsylvanians sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members. 

AARP Pennsylvania announced the names of 13 local advocates who have received Fellowships to participate in the 2023 Pennsylvania State Walking College.

AARP Pennsylvania and SeniorLAW Center announced a new initiative to help older Pennsylvanians navigate legal issues following the extreme devastation caused by Hurricane Ida last year. Ida plowed a path of destruction across the Northeast, bringing record rainfall, spawning tornados, and causing major flooding. The storm killed 95 people in the United States, with five in Pennsylvania, and caused billions of dollars in property damage.

AARP Pennsylvania is excited to participate in a nationwide AARP Celebrates You Event on Friday, March 25th! The AARP Celebrates You celebration runs from March 24th-26th with an amazing lineup of exciting virtual events designed to help you stay healthy and happy.

We know that it takes time to build great communities. But, we also believe that tangible improvements can spark long-term change. AARP launched the Community Challenge in 2017 to fund projects that build momentum to improve livability nationwide. We are excited to announce the program is back in 2022 for its sixth year and is currently accepting applications online through March 22, 5:00 p.m. ET.
