Hurricane Harvey caused widespread, catastrophic flooding and damage in Texas and elsewhere along the Gulf Coast. The recovery will continue for a long while.

Recognizing the immediate and longer-term challenges so many will face in the months ahead, AARP and AARP Foundation responded with the creation of a relief fund to support the victims devastated by Harvey.

With the support and generosity of many, we have met our current match of more than $3 million to be distributed to relief and recovery efforts. But the need remains great. AARP Foundation will ensure that each and every dollar donated will be directed to help older adults and others who need our help the most.

AARP Texas announced on Sept. 1 that the first $100,000 of the fund has been pledged to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, which is administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation. Meanwhile donation, fully tax deductible, are still being accepted at AARP Foundation Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, a secure website.
