This year, AARP Utah's annual Volunteer Summit highlighted local community connections, the importance of our volunteers, and a glimpse at what's to come in 2025.
The summit brings together staff, Executive Council members, statewide volunteer Area Coordinators, as well as the volunteer leadership from the state affiliates of AARP’s Driver Safety Program, Tax-Aide Program and Utah Retired School Employee Association.
It provides a unique opportunity for everyone to come together, report on different activities, and discuss future projects.
The event kicked off with a keynote address from Dr. Susan Madsen, Founder of the Utah Women and Leadership Project and a Bolder Way Forward for Utah. Her speech, titled "The Benefits of Community Connects - Why We Need Each Other" was the perfect jumping off point for two days filled with activities, community building and learning opportunities.
The first day of our Volunteer Summit wrapped with the 2024 Volunteer Recognition and Andrus Award dinner at the Viridian Event Center in West Jordan. You can read more about that event, learn about this year's honorees, and view pictures by clicking HERE.
Day two of our Summit started off with more guest speakers, group activities, lunch, and a brain storming session. We don't want to give anything away, but our volunteers came up with some exciting ideas for potential events in 2025! You'll have to keep an eye out for those next year.
By all accounts, 2024 has been a successful year so far and 2025 looks to be even more outstanding!
