AARP in The Virgin Islands Recognizes Volunteers During National Volunteers Month

Español |April is National Volunteers Month. AARP in The Virgin Islands observes this important celebration by recognizing our volunteers.

AARP is constantly working in The Virgin Islands and our communities to make it possible for people 50 plus and their families to choose how they live as they age and to make our communities more livable.

Volunteers are the foundation of the work in the communities. They work closely with our staff to lead events, whether they are to meet with legislators to discuss issues that affect our population or provide information and educate community members on who we are and what we do. They are the boots on the ground that allow our events and projects to become a reality. Volunteers outnumber staff in the AARP-VI State Office and across the nation.

Volunteers have been front and center every time as AARP-VI continues to work on the issues affecting Virgin Islanders even during the COVID-19 virus pandemic. They have been present during legislative meetings, discussing the issues and sharing their experiences, educating policymakers on why there is a need to pass legislation on many bills that can improve our lives and communities. Their restless and invigorating passion for volunteering is commendable and admirable. We owe our successes to them, and their value is priceless.

AARP not only recognizes volunteers from our organization. We also shine a light on those of all organizations. Volunteering takes many forms, and when you donate your time without pay, you are volunteering. `

On this National Volunteers Month, we thank them for their service. This is their time to shine. We thank you, AARP in The Virgin Islands Volunteers and all the Volunteers out there!
