Virgin Islanders are getting a health and recreation boost from an improvement made possible by the 2019 AARP Community Challenge grant program.
St. Croix is building its first bike path, thanks to a grant to VI Trail Alliance and Partners. It should be completed this month. The new bike lane, with benches and bike racks, will extend around the Christiansted Historic District on the Christiansted bypass.
The path is just one example of AARP’s support for Complete Streets: programs and policies that encourage communities to make sure roads are safe for all residents—drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, public transit riders and people with disabilities.
