Español AARP in The Virgin Islands and The VI Department of Human Services are encouraging persons who are 60 years of age and older who live alone, and disabled individuals who live alone, to enter their name in the Adult and Disabled Persons Disaster Registry.
The registry was instituted by Bill Number 32-0064, a Bill that AARP in the VI worked with the 32nd Legislature of the Virgin Islands to pass, and was signed into law by the Governor on June 14, 2018. The Bill, now Act. 8058, is an amendment to title 34 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 16, adding subchapter II, providing for the establishment of a registry for persons 60 years and older living alone and persons with disabilities (regardless of age) living alone. The Act stipulates that all persons who are 60 years and older living alone and persons with disabilities living alone, may enter their names on a registry with the VI Department of Human Services so that they may be contacted to determine if they need emergency assistance during a man-made or natural disaster. To register call:

The Act contains measures such as fines and/or imprisonment that will be taken against offenders on disclosure of information contained in the registry under any other circumstance.
