As Washington rebounds from the coronavirus pandemic, AARP is joining up with pro basketball’s Seattle Storm to help residents stay fit and healthy.

Starting this month, AARP in Seattle and the four-time WNBA champion Storm are hosting Get Fit, Be Well, a series of free online fitness and wellness events that are open to adults of any age.

On Wednesday, July 21, Storm Dance Troupe members will share their moves in an online clinic. Learn how moving more can help contribute to a healthy immune system and mental sharpness.

“Health and wellness is a key focus of the Storm’s community engagement,” said Nate Silverman, a senior vice president with the team organization.

The online series continues with The Champion Mindset talk, on Tuesday, Aug. 31, offering tips on mental well-being in times of uncertainty. Thursday, Sept. 9, brings a basketball and fitness clinic. And a panel discussion focused on social justice and equity will round out the year, on Tuesday, Nov. 9.

Go to aarp.org/Storm for event times and registration.

“People 50 and older appreciate the team and a chance to interact with some of their favorite players as well as the champion coaches,” said Jason Erskine, AARP Washington’s communications director.
